Part 4 The Refuge and Percepts Ceremony (Repentance)

Repentance (Master recite first follow by lay person) [Thrice]

The past evil karma I had committed

were all due to beginning greed, hatred and ignorance

as expressed through my body, speech and mind.

All these misgivings I hereby repent and resolve not to repeat.

(Bow Once)

The Threefold Refuge (Master recite first follow by lay person) [Thrice]

I, disciple, (Dharma Name) :

Till the end of my life, I take refuge in the Buddhas,

Till the end of my life, I take refuge in the Dharma,

Till the end of my life, I take refuge in the Sangha,

(Bow Once)

I, disciple, (Dharma Name) :

Take refuge in the realm of the Buddhas

Even at the loss of my life

I resolve to never take refuge

In the heavenly maras and unorthodox teachings.

I take refuge in Fully Awakened One

The truly World-Honored One

The Great Compassionate One.

(Bow Once)
